Basar has an estimated population of 30,000. During the summers, the maximum temperature rises to about 36°C, while the winter temperature can dip to 1°C at night.Basar is located at an elevation of 650m amsl. The route for BRUTE cuts through the trails of the gentle sloping mountains covered with dense evergreen forests, rivers, rivulets, fields, jhums fields and through the rustic villages inhabited by the Galo tribe- one of the major tribe of Arunachal Pradesh known for their hospitality, add to it the rich tribal tradition, culture and culinary of the peace loving people inhabiting the area.For accommodation, Basar has got hotels, homestays and camping facilities. At BRUTE in particular and Basar per se, we welcome runners, campers, hikers, vloggers and adventure seekers and little-known exotic locations in Arunchal Pradesh to the global map.

We will package the complete event into three days.

Day 1

Arrival either on December 3rd/4th  or earlier, please check with the local travel concierge for your bookings, arrival by  morning/afternoon, rest, refresh and recreations.

Late evening gala dinner and briefing sessions of the complete running event.

day 2

December 5th - Early morning Race kick off, path, race route and distance, we will have three categories of runners.

Elite Runners – This category will start as early as 4:30 AM and end by 4:30 PM

Mid Distance Runners –  We will have a category of 30Km for runners who want to experience the trail path which will require moderate effort, this category of race can start at 6:30 AM and end by 1:00 PM

Amateur Runners: These would be shorter distances of 10Km, or 5 Km runs for locals or for tourists who just want to experience the run, we will create this as a special category for students and kids and encourage them to participate in the run.

Once the Race ends in the afternoon/evening, We will set up a local festival atmosphere with the help of local community and set up tuck shops and exhibits and stalls which showcases local culture, artifacts and local cuisine and exotic delicacies. Good evening stage setup with local music and song, dance and gala we have local physio and massage counters, and post-race meals to be provided, and evenings and late night could be a gala night with local music and cultural events.

  • Basar is accessible from other cities and states via roadways, railways, and airways. You can arrive here conveniently via any travel mode and route of your choice. Basar is approximately 2400km, 3200km, 1500km, and 3400km via Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, respectively.   • By Air.Dibrugarh airport in Assam is the nearest to reach Basar in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is nearly 150km away, and the fastest route passes through Likabali and Aalo road. Flights from across the country arrive here hence you may choose traveling by air if comfort is a priority and budget is not a constraint.

  • By Rail. Silapathar railway station is where you must terminate your rail journey to explore Basar. Super-fast and express trains from all parts of the country arrive here. If you are looking for a comfortable and economical travel option then you must consider traveling by rail.

Mandatory documents

It is important to have an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. You can apply for this online here for Rs.100 or get it over the counter if you’re landing into Guwahati airport in Assam for Rs.400. It is important to declare which district and destination in Arunachal you’re heading to as the permit varies accordingly.

  • There are 3 best possible entry and exit points while travelling to Basar, and the mode of transportation is mentioned in the table below.

  • BRUTE2022 is being organized by a local NGO called GRK (Gumin Rvgo Kilaju) and in collaboration with Indian Trailways powered by RaceTime India and RunMonks.
  • BRUTE2022 is a first of its kind Ultra Marathon being held in Arunachal Pradesh, in its first edition the objective of this run is to bring forth the hidden tourist destination in the Likabali-Basar-Mechuka sector, to also bring in awareness of the Indigenous community, culture, culinary delight along with focus on the flora and fauna of this region. This run will also emphasize on the bringing awareness of drug addiction.
